SchoolCenter PictureWriting is important in so many aspects of our lives.  We need to give our children an opportunities to write for a variety of purposes and audiences. 

In the early grades a combination of pictures and words can be used to express ideas.

Here are some ideas to enhance your child's writing:  

  • Find a pen pal and start writing letters:  It could be a friend or cousin who does not live near.
  • Write thank you notes.
  • Keep a journal.
  • Cut out pictures and write a story to go along with them.
  • Keep lists - (grocery lists, things to do...)
  • Do Mad-Libs
  • Get a Story Starter and write for Fun!
  • Use this free online activity t o "Grow" a story - Start the story online, print it out and finish it on your own.
  • Publish your story to the web.  Submit your story to your Educational Specialist to be displayed on our K-2 Student Bulletin Board
  • Get started organizing your ideas with a Graphic Organizer
  • Try to Make Your Own Book. (Many different types of books.)
  • Work on word choice by doing these Online Activities.
  • Go to MakeBeliefsComix.com and create your own comic strip online.
